Children ready to leave mining areas

   Some children involving in Artisanal and Small scale –Mining (ASM) here are appealing for support from well wishers so that they can go back to school.
  Speaking to the Voices of North Mara Youth today a number of children said it is not their wish to engage in risk activity instead of going to school.
“We come to ASM areas due to lack of school fees and education materials such as uniforms and stationneries “  a number of children from Nyabichune area who wished not to be named  said .
  They insisted that they are ready to leave mining areas if only they will be assisted to go back to schools.
   Increased  number of children  seen searching gold in villages around North Mara Gold Mine during school hours has become a major concern with  some parents and also local leaders  calling for immediate interventions to arrest the situation before it gets out of hand.
